About

Hi — I’m Phillip.

I have four boys, spread across six years. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to referee a small civilization while also trying to hold down a job, a marriage, and your own sanity — you already know exactly why this site exists.

We live in Battambang, Cambodia. I’m a pastor here, which matters less to most of these posts than you’d think — except the ones where it’s the whole point.

I started The Dad System because most parenting advice online is written by people without four kids climbing on them while they type. The advice sounds nice. It just doesn’t survive contact with real life.

Everything here comes from systems I’ve actually built, tested, broken, and rebuilt — in real time, with real chaos, in a house with four very different boys. If you’ve read any of my posts, you know I compare them to the Avengers, and I mean it.

I’m not a parenting expert with a degree. I’m a dad who got tired of guessing and started building systems instead — for mornings, for bedtime, for discipline, for sanity. This is where I share what actually works, what doesn’t, and what I’m still figuring out.

If you’re new, start here

If you’re a dad — or a mom, honestly, most of this works for both — drowning in the daily chaos of raising multiple young kids, I think you’ll feel at home here.

Glad you found this.

— Phillip
